Was in unit from beginning to end. Spent at least part of the time as color bearer for the batallion. Post-war whereabouts unknown but originated from Winnsboro, Louisiana.

Enlisted with his brother Thomas D. Holley at Monroe, LA on June 4, 1861 in the 'Quachita Blues'. Was wounded and separated from his brother at Chickamauga, GA.Sent to hospital. Captured near Atlanta, GA Aug 3 or 5, 1864. Sent to prison at Louisville, Ky by way of Nashville, TN and then to Camp Chase, Ohio. Paroled Feb. 12, 1865. Exchanged at Boulwares and Coxes Wharf,James River, VA, Feb. 20-21, 1865. Moved to East Texas after war.

Sent to prison at Louisville, Ky and then to Camp Douglas, Ill Oct 4, 1863 and remained there as a POW until April, 18, 1865 at which time he was 'galvanized' and enlisted in the 5th U.S. Volunteer Infantry
Organized at Alton and Camp Douglas, Ill., March to May, 1865. Ordered to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, May 3, 1865. Assigned to duty in District of Upper Arkansas from Little Arkansas River to Fort Dodge and Cimarron Crossing. Duty in Districts of Nebraska, Colorado and Utah and the Plains till November, 1866. Mustered out November 13, 1866.

LIsted incorrectly as deserter. Shows on rolls later and was paroled in Trans-Miss. Was reassigned to QM Dept west of the river last two years of the war. Fought at Sessionville, SC

Isaiah is listed on film number M378 roll 28. He was killed in The Battle of Chickamauga, Tenn., 19 Sept. 1863

Michael Sullivan was born in England around 1825 after his parents left Ireland. From there he Immigrated to the United States and wound up in Ouachita Parish, LA. He was the father of Graton Sullivan, and married Adline Impson (she was previously married to George Brown.

Reenlisted 28th Ms. Cav. became POW. Exchanged Feb 1865 . Returned to rejoin his brother D. Wansely Elliott and Co. C 4th Inf. Batt. where he surrendered Citronelle Al. Having served with the fourth at Spanish Fort battle of Mobile .

My g-g-grandfather, Elisha Whatley, son of Elisha Whatley, Sr., was born a few months after his father's death in 1838. He married Louisa Maria Frazier.

Not sure of my relation to Pvt. Wm Leavenworth. I know he was KIA at the Battle of Shiloh on Apr 6 1862. I would like to know more of his Civil War experience and perhaps use this as a living history program.

Trapley Jenkins born 1845 died 1925 buried it Oak Grove Cem. in Clearwater, La. Enlisted 13 May 1862, proled 10 May 1865.

Martin Bryant enlisted April 2,1862. Company F. of the Fourth Louisiana Infantry Battalion was the last company to join the Battalion. They left Ouachita Parish in the spring of 1862 and joined the Battalion on James Island a few months prior to the battle of Secessionville, in June of 1862. It appears that Lt. Colonel John McEnery raised this company while home in Monroe on furlough. This company was known as the Ouachita Rebels.
