Hiram Hills Roberts
Hiram Hills Roberts - Private |
|
Hiram is my Third Great Grandfather on my Father's Side.
Hiram served in the 28th Maine Volunteers with his brother Lewis Roberts. He was born April 7, 1827 in Northfield, Washington County, Maine. To Parents: John Allen Roberts Sr: February 27, 1802 - 1887 and Frances Fanny Foss: March 29, 1805 - ?
Hiram Died: August 20, 1863 in Bellefontaine, Logan County, Ohio. On the March back to Augusta, Maine to complete mustering out.
While Hiram and Lewis both Served in the 28th Maine they weren't the only ones in their family to serve.
Hiram (1827 or 1826), William Henry (1827), Silas T. (1834), Josiah W. (1835), Lewis (1844). Hiram died of disease on the way home from the War. Leaving behind his wife Mary Ann and multiple young kids. Though Hiram wasn't the only brother to Perish in the war. His brother Silas T. would also Perish in the war (1834- February 10, 1862 in Ossabaw Sound, Georgia). Luckily these two were the only two to perish in the Civil War.
I'm looking into the service records of the other Roberts Boys as well.
