George W. Yeamans was born in 1842 in Cecil County, MD. He enlisted on Aug. 13, 1862 in Baltimore, MD for a period of 3 years. The muster roll describes him as age 19, 5'9', fair complexion, dark hair & blue eyes, a blacksmith by trade. He was wounded on May 8, 1864 at Spotsylvania Court House, VA. Hospital records show he suffered gunshot wounds to two fingers on his right hand. He mustered out at Arlington Heights, VA. on May 31, 1865. George died in Bethlehem, PA. in 1925. (His younger brother, Joseph C. Yeamans, 5th MD. Infantry died in 1865 in a Confederate prisoner of war camp) A distant 2nd cousin of mine

Had up to 12 children after the war with wife of 26 yrs Married 1874 to Anna Rebecca Baubiltz dtr of Thomas Jefferson Baubiltz. He was of English ancestry according to census reports, son of Elijah Bowers born 1821 Massachusetts and Anna Ohler of Baltimore. Worked as laborer, then farmer and farm laborer after war according to census reports. Widow's pension certificate no 713292 for Annie upon his death filed Oct 10, 1910. May have rec'd disablity veterans pension prior to death.SD 1 EDD 422 house 277 family 290 from schedule 1. Baltimore district 11 /3.
