Edwin Sumner Parmenter - Private
Edwin was a single farmer on the Parmenter family farm on Sherman Road in northeast section of Sudbury, Massachusetts. Enlisted Concord, Mass., July 1863 as a substitute for his brother Albert T.. Trained at Deer Isle, Boston Harbor. His first battle was the Wilderness May 1864. MWIA on June 7, 1864 by musket ball to left side in a skirmish near Grapevine Bridge, Chickahominy River, VA., following Battle of Cold Harbor. Died of wounds at White House Va. on June 9th and is buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Sudbury, Mass. His brother later named a son after Edwin.

William Whiting Hemenway - Captain
My Great-Great Grandfather; William W.Hemenway (1st) who was a Captain in the Massachusetts 18th Volunteer Infantry. He was severly wounded on the 2nd day of Gettysburg during fighting in the wheat field. He later lost his leg as a result and was mustered out of the army late in 1864. I still have his cartridge box.
