Cemetery headstone in Mason, Michigan but probably buried in the field at Ream's Station, Virginia. He died in August 1864, two weeks after his brother Uriah Fritz dies from wounds suffered at Petersburg, Virginia.

Hiram C. Elliott - Private
Private Elliott was born on May 20, 1819. He enlisted on August 11, 1862 at the age of 43. His service with the 26th included: Camp Jackson, Alexandria, Washington, Suffolk, and the New York Draft Riots. He was discharged for disability on September 2, 1863 at Detroit, Michigan. Private Elliott died on January 29, 1903 and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery at Fowlerville, Michigan.

Chauncy Butler - Sergeant
Chauncy enlisted Aug. 12, 1862. Shortly after, his brother-in-law, George Sumner Chamberlain, also enlisted. Quite some time later still, another brother-in-law, Edward Chamberlain, enlisted into the same company.
Chauncy and Edward were killed at Spottsylvania.

Edward and Chauncy were both killed at Spottsylvania.

Lyman Evans - Private
Enlisted in Kent County, Mich. Was taken prisoner at Todds Tavern,Va. on May 8,1864 and sent to Andersonville POW camp in Georgia where he died in October 1864 leaving behind a widow and baby son. He was a cousin to my ggrandfather.
