William was born 7 Dec 1837 in Enterprise, Clark Co. Miss. In the 1860 census he is shown as 22 years old in Jasper County, Miss. The Post Office is at Buckley's Store. He enlists at Buckley's Store 13 Jul 1861, enlisted by Capt. George W Ryan's Co. [Tolson Guard's] Mustered at Enterprise 26 Aug 1861. He has 18 items in his archival file. 2o Apr 1863 he is promoted from 4th to 2nd Sgt. He ends his service as a 2nd Lieut. I have not found the date of that promotion. His first battle was at Murfreesboro on 31 Dec 1862. He was in the Tullahoma, Atlanta, Franklin- Nashville and Carolina Campaigns. He died 8 April 1918 and is buried in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cem. in Jasper County. Miss. He was the father-in-law of my 2nd cousin 4 x removed.

Ethelred was born 16 April 1844 in Smith County, Alabama. The 1860 census finds him in that county at age16. His exact date of enlistment is unknown. It is believed he was in the Tullahoma Campaign and in the Atlanta Campaign where he was captured near Dalton Ga. on 13 May 1864. He was sent to Louisville, Ky and on to Rock Island Prison in Illinois arriving in that hell hole 14 June 1864 where he contracts severe Bronchitis. He has 14 cards in his archival file. He died 9 Nov 1910 and is buried in the Shady Grove 1st Baptist Church. He is the father-in-law of my 2nd cousin 4 x removed.

Lorenzo Franklin Wilson - Private |
Lorenzo Franklin Wilson was my great great great grandfather, son of Ephraim and Charlotte (Christmas) Wilson. He was born 16 Nov 1825 in Houston Co., GA. but moved with his family to Mississippi where he married Jemima Ann Byrd in Smith County, Mississippi 03 Jan 1849. Lorenzo and Jemima were the parents of five children: Nancy Ann; Harriett Elizabeth; Orlando Franklin; Charlotte L.; and my great great grandmother, Amanda Jane Wilson.
Lorenzo enlisted in the 8th Mississippi on 1 June 1861 at Raleigh, Smith County, Mississippi and was captured on 25 November 1863 at The Battle of Missionary Ridge. He was transported to Rock Island Prison where he died on 31 January 1864. Lorenzo was buried the same day he died in grave #320 in the Rock Island Confederate Cemetery.

George contracted rheumatism while in camp and he suffered with it during the entire war. Being sick in camp and in the hospital twice. 1 Feb. 1864 he is promoted form 3rd Corporlal to 5th Sergt. In 1865 with the ranks of the Infantry depeleted, Miss. consolidated the 3rd Battalion, 5th, 8th, & 32nd Regt. to form the 8th Battn: Miss Infantry.

He was survived by his wife Nancy and a son R.B. Holcroft II of Kemper Co. Ms. Nancy's brother Burwell Jones also served in this unit.

He enlists at that location on 13 July 1861 in Capt George W Ryan's Co [ Tolsons Guards]. He musters into Confederate Service on 24 August 1861 at Enterprise. June 1863 has him posted as a bridge guard. In the battle of Murfreesboro, he is shot in the left hand and loses a finger. Battles: Tullahoma and Atlanta Campaigns, Chickamauga, and Franklin, where he is captured and sent to to the military prison at Louisville, Ky. and on to Camp Douglas. He dies 17 Sept 1915 in Meridian, Lauderdale Co. Miss. He was the father-in-law of my 2nd cousin 4 x removed.

John spent most of his time in the service as a Hospital worker. He became disabled and was honorabley discharged for disability on 6 Feb. 1863.
