Abiel Edwin Putnam was born March 13, 1836 in Wilton, Hillsborough, NH and joined Company D of the 4th NH Regiment Circa 1861. He died on August 17, 1864 near the James River, in Buckingham County, Virginia. It was during on of 2 engagements: Demonstration north of James River August 13-20 or Strawberry Plains August 14-18, 1864 [http://www.civilwararchive.com/Unreghst/unnhtr3.htm#4thinf]The latter engagement is the more probable, but still investigating.

David Gibson Lillis - Private
|
David G Lillis Jr, died about December 4, 1862 of illness, and is buried in Beaufort National Cemetary, Beaufort SC, Section 18 grave 1493. He enlisted August 27 1861 in Hooksett Merrimack NH, at the age of 19. His younger brother George Franklin Lillis enlisted at the age of 17, the following year 25 August 1862 with Company B, 6th Infantry Regiment MA. Was wounded on 15 May 1863 at Carrsville, VA and discharged due to wounds June 3 1863 in Lowell MA.
