John C. Seamans - Major   
John C. Seaman enlisted in the 188th N.Y. Infantry, Co. E on September 16, 1864. He participated in the battles of Hatcher's Run, White Oak Ridge, Gravelly Run and Five Forks. He was with his regiment in the final assault on Petersburg and was present at Appomattox to witness the surrender of General Lee. John was discharged in 1865 and married in 1869. He and his wife, Leonardo St. Peter had seven children. John died in February of 1930.
