Virgil D. Swaim
- Private
My Great Grandfather, Virgil D. Swaim, served from 1863 until the end of the war. His unit was in the siege of Petersburg until the 66th was pulled from the lines and sent to Wilmington to try to stop the invasion coming through the Cape Fear area. They fought all the way to close to Durham where they laid down their arms and walked home to Yadkin County. They never did surrender.
