I am probably related to any Skiver listed or VanSkiver from Ohio. I'm not certain about what unit Skivers were in. I think most of them were from around Defiance, Ohio. Also, any Davises from that area could be my relatives. Thank you kindly, Claude Davis

Simon P Warner - Private |
Simon P. Warner Wayne Co. Ohio. Born 1844.Killed in action May 12,1864 Spotsylvania, Va. Enlisted Feb 1861. After seeing extensive action in the Shenendoah valley the unit was captured and soon parolled by the confederates. The unit was later reformed and attached to the army of the Potomac. In the early dawn of May 12,1864 just outside Spotsylvania Va., the massed union army attacked the heavily fortified confederate position at ''the bloody angle''. It was here in a cold driving rain that some of the most gruesome fighting of the war took place. Pvt Simon Warner was most likely killed in this frontal assault. He is buried at the Overton Church Of God Cemetary, Overton Ohio. He was just 20 years old.
