Phillip Forney was my 2nd great grandfather.
He enlisted in Co. D, 139th PA Infantry Regiment on Sept. 1, 1862. Wounded in the left leg at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on May 12, 1864. Mustered out with his company on June 21, 1865. Married Anna M. Woltz 1866. Died in Newville, Cumberland County PA in 1915.

Mustered in September 1, 1862.
Died November 22, 1862 at Findlay Hospital in Washington, D.C. of Typhoid Fever.
His brother, John Armstrong George, fought with the 123rd PA.

John was my Great Grand Uncle. He was killed on May 12, 1864, at Spotsylvania Court House & is buried in Fredericksburg National Cemetery. I have 8 letters from him to my Great Grandfather who was too young to serve or I might not be here. John's brother Wilson was killed in the Battle of Seven Pines May 31, 1862 while in the 23rd PA. His brother Thomas was in the 116th PA and was shot in the thigh with a miniball during the battle at Cold Harbor. I have pictures of all 3 alive and of their gravestones.

John F. McClary - 3rd Sergeant
John was my second great grandfather. He enlisted into Co. D as a private on September 1, 1862. John was promoted to Corporal on January 16, 1863 and officially to Sergeant on March 20, 1865.

He survived the war, mustering out with the regiment on June 21, 1865 and lived in Harmarville, PA until his death.

Note: older brother, Andrew served in the 63rd Pa. Younger brother, Henry served in the 83rd Pa.
