Not a relative, but I possess his membership medal from the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (MOLLUS). A 22-year-old jeweler when he enlisted from Butler County as a 2nd Lt. in September 1861, 'Alf' distinguished himself at Stones River in December 1862 and again at Chickamauga. He was promoted 1st Lt. in February 1863, and Captain in April 1863. He mustered out in November 1864 and lived in Butler Co. after the War. He died in 1910.

I am not so sure this is my relative but he has the same name, is from the same place, and got a headstone at Chartier's Cemetery where he used to live. Even if he's not related, I feel honored to mention him here. None of the books that mention my relative mention the war, so I am not sure about it. There was mention of a John Bowers who died in the Civil War from PA but his wife's name was not the same.
