James Gwyn - Colonel
After serving in the 23rd PV, James GWYN was appointed Lt Col in the new 118th PV (Corn Exchange Regiment)in Aug 1862. He succeeded Col Provest as CO at Sheppardstown Ford Sept 1862. Promoted to Col. Served as 118th CO until wounded @ the Wilderness (May 1864). Promoted to Bvt Brig Gen; served in 5th Corps @ Petersburg to Five Forks. Wounded again. Promoted to Bvt Maj Gen. He took CSA surrender at Appomattox. In all, served in 28 Battles or engagements.
