My paternal great-grandfather ~ born November, 1838, and raised near New Grenada, Fulton County, PA. Joined 147th, Company B, P.V., at Coalmont, PA, Huntington County and mustered into service at Philadelphia, PA on August 17, 1861. Promoted from 1st Sargeant to 2nd Lieutenant on March 1, 1863. Wounded at New Hope Church, GA on May 25, 1864. Was in battles of Antietam, Lookout Mountain, Cedar Mountain, Harper's Ferry and Gettysburg (among others). Served with Capt. Col. Charles Candy, Lt. Col. Ario Pardee, Jr., Brig. Gen. John Geary. Was in Sherman's 'March to the Sea.' Resigned at Dumfries, VA, April 7, 1865 (expiration of term). I am very interested regarding information/pictures of the 28th PA and the 147th, CO B, P.V.
