Samuel was born in Darlington County SC and joined & mustered there at the Court House on 20 March 1862. He was about 25 y/o. Enlisted in Capt F.F. Warley's Co. SC Light Artillery. Formerly [Lamar's], [ Inglis'] aka 1st SC Artillery. He was engaged in the first battle at Sessionville, near Charleston on 15 - 16 June 1862 and was wounded. He was discharged 3 July 1862. We are related by marriage.

Rosier was born 16 Oct 1845 in Kellytown, Darlington Co. SC. He enlisted at age 18 on 28 Oct 1863 on James Island, Charleston in Co D 2nd SC Artillery. He has 9 cards in his archival file. He was reported sick April, Sept. & Oct 1864. His first battle was at Lagarville, SC. In early 1865 his Artillery Company was converted to Infantry. He fought in the Carolina Campaign in Elliot's Brigade, Taliaferro's Division, { Hardee's Corps]. He survived the war and died 28 April 1928 in his hometown. He is the father in law of my 1st cousin 3 x removed.

Robert Benjamin Nettles - 2nd Lieutenant
|
Robert was about 27 when he enlisted 20 Mar 1862 at Darlington, Darlington District SC. Elected as 1st Sgt and elected 11 July 1863 to 2nd [Jr] Lieut. Unit was known by several names. Capt F.F. Warley's Co D. Inglis Light Arty. 1st SC Arty and 2nd Lamar's Battn: SC Arty. Served mostly around Charleston. Robert found himself on detached duty several times guarding Union POW's. With the fall of Charleston they moved north where they fought at Bentonville and Avesboro. Good men all who did their duty. Robert is related to me by marriage.
