Alexander David Hinson - Private   
Alexander was 14 years old in 1860 when the South was invaded. He enlisted from Marlboro Co. SC 13 July 1864 in Co. B Capt. Ellison S Keitt's Cavalry 19th Battalion [ Mounted Rifles]. August 1864 he is sick in the brigade hospital at Mount Pleasant, SC. He would have been 17 or 18 years old. Assigned to the Dept of SC, Ga, & Fla. Fought in the Carolina Campaign. The roster strength for this unit is given as 718 men. He has 5 cards in his archival file. he married my distant cousin Martha C Parham in 1867 and he died 10 Mar 1911. He and his wife are buried at Beauty Spot Cem. Tatum, Marlboro Co SC.

Thomas Cook Covington - Private   
There but two cards in the Archives for this gallant horse soldier. He enlisted 1 Feb. 1863 at Bennettsville, Marlboro County, S.C. in Capt. A.D. Spark's Cavalry Co. S.C Vol's. He enlisted for three years and was paid $24.00 for the use of his horse. This company was organized about 3 April 1862 and was mustered in as Co. L 20th Regt. S.C. Vol's. It became unattached about 30 April and was desiginated Capt. Spark's Company S.C. Cavalry. Thomas died on 25 July 1863. The circumstances has never been determined. What is known is that he died in service to his country. His brother in Law G.W. Moody and Pvt. E.T. Covington, Sergt. James T. and Robert Covington served in this unit. Thomas is buried at Hebron Cemetery, Clio, Marlboro Co. S.C.
The above unit was formed by the consolidation of Kirk's Squadron Partisan Rangers, Co B. Boykin's Squadron Mounted Rifles, Keitt's Company Mounted Rifles S.C. Vol's., Spark's Company S.C. Cav.,Fair's Co. S.C. Reserves and Co.B 37th Virginia Cav.

John Gresham Hubbard - Private   
John was born 9 Mar 1842 in the community of Hebron, Marlboro County SC. He enlisted 1 Jan 1864 at Bennettsville, Marlboro Co. SC . in Capt A. D. Sparks Co [ Ripley Rangers] He has 11 cards in his archival file. Assigned to Dept. of Fla, Ga, & SC. He is with his unit at Mount Pleasant, South Carolina near Charleston when he is detached to the Quarter Master as a Forage Agent. He saw action in the South and North Carolina Campaigns and moved west where he served with the Army of Tenn. until their surrender in April 1865. Few details remain of the operational combat. We are related by marriage. He He is buried in Hebron UMC Cem. Clio, Marlboro Co. SC

James R Manning - Private   
James was born in Marlboro District of South Carolina 5 June 1839. He was about 24 when he enlisted in aforesaid county on 10 Oct 1863 for the war. He has 6 cards in his archival file. He enlisted in Capt A. D. Sparks Co. [Ripley Rangers] SC Cavalry. On 20 Dec 1864 this unit and several others were consolidated to form Co E of the19th Battalion SC Cavalry. It served in the North Carolina Campaign. The specifics have been lost to history. He married twice and all are buried in the Hebron UMC Cem. In Clio, Marlboro Co. SC .. May God grant him rest.

George Washington Moody - Private   
George enlisted at Bennetsville, Marlboro County, So.Car.on 1 April 1863. This unit was formed by consolidating several Cavalry units and Mounted Rifle units and Co. B 37th Va Cav. He was married to Martha Ellen Covington which made him a brother in law to several Covington men in this unit. All from Marlboro County So. Car.

John enlisted in Marlboro Co SC on 28 April 1862. He was abt 20 years old. He was enlisted by Capt Sparks Company of South Carolina Cavalry for 3 years. This unit became Co E of 19th Battn: SC Cavalry on orders dated 20 Dec. 1864.
As a component of Co.L 20th SC Infantry Regiment. This Regiment has Infantry, Artillery and a Cavalry arm. It was later reduced to 10 companies of Infantry. John has a CMR card showing that he re-enlisted at Sullivan Island.
