Manning A. Wilson - Private   
Manning A. Wilson was born in 1838 and enlisted in 1861 at the age of 23 at the Spartanburg County Courthouse. He served throughout the duration of the war and was wounded in the chest by a min ball at the Battle of Wilderness which he survived.

Manning enlisted in the 13rd Regiment, Co. H, which was renamed Co. B.

Manning was surrendered by General Robert E. Lee along with the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattax Courthouse, Appomattax, Va on April 11, 1865. He was married to Nancy Jane Wilson, his cousin and lived near Conestee/Reidville/Gantt Townships. Manning died sometime after 1910 while living with his son, Itson Austin Wilson and Drucilla Leather-Wilson in Gantt.

Martin was born 28 May 1819 in Barnwell District of South Carolina. He was about 43 y/o when he enlisted on 7 Jan 1862 in Co G, 13th So. Car. Infantry. Enlisting at Camp Hampton near Columbia at Lightwood Know Springs for the war. Co G was known as {DeKalb Guards] He has 7 cards in his archival file. On 1 April 1862 the regiment was ordered to Virginia where they were assigned to General Greggs and McGowen's Brigade. Battles: Seven days, Gains Mill, Frayser's Farm, 2nd Manassas, Gettysburg, Fredericksburg, Wilderness, Chancellorsville, Spotsylvania, Deep Bottom, Fussell's Mill, Poplar Springs. He was paroled at Appomattox Court House on 9 April 1865. He moved to Union County, Arkansas where he died about 5 months later on19 Sept 1865. It is obvious that the war had taken its toll. He is buried beside his wife in Bethel Methodist Church Cem. at El Dorado, Union Co. Ark. He was the father- in- law of my 3rd cousin 4 x removed.
