Julius was born in 1839 in Barnwell District, South Carolina. He is on the 1860 census as 21 y/o, the Post Office is at Williston. He has 25 cards in his archival file. He enlisted 13 July 1861 at Williston in 1st Regt SC Infantry [McCreaery's ] 1st Provincial Army. It is 500 miles to rendezvous as his regiment is in Va. 13 Feb 1864 his is given a 21-day indulgence leave. 10 May 1864 he is admitted to hospital at Farmville Va. with a gunshot wound. He is returned to duty on 13 June 1864. On 16 Sept 1864 he is sick in the hospital at Jackson Hospital at Richmond suffering from dysentery. He is taken as POW at Burkeville and sent to City Point Va. and released 21 June 1865. Battles, Seven Days, Cold Harbor, 2nd Manassas, Ox Hill aka Chantilly, Antietam aka Sharpsburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Spotsylvania, He was the father-in-law of my 1st cousin 3 x removed. His death date is given as before 1900. May God rest his soul.

John Griffin Thomas - Private
|
Pvt John Griffin Thomas enlisted July, 1861, at age 18 in Newberry, SC. He was assigned to Company B, 1st SC Regiment (Provisional). He was wounded at 2nd Manassas, Va. John Griffin Thomas qualified for acceptance into the well-known unit called 'Lee's Sharpshooters' commanded by Major W S Dunlop. In late June of 1864 Pvt Thomas was mortally wounded in Petersburg at the Jerusalem Plank Road encounter. He later died in the Petersburg General Hospital on the 3rd of July. NOTE: Should anyone have access to any resources that would give the location of Pvt Thomas' grave I would deeply appreciate that information.

Jacob enlisted at Darlington, Darlington Co. SC on 15 August 1861. . Enlisted by Capt. McIntosh. Into Capt. D. G McIntosh's Co. 1st Regt. SC. Vol's aka Pee Dee Rifles. Jacob was about 28 years old. This unit became Co D McCreary's Regt. SC Infantry. On 25 June 1862 he was admitted to the Episcopal Church Hospital with a dx of Typhoid Fever. He was moved to the CSA South Carolina Hospital at Petersburg where he died on 4 July 1862. Deo Vindice

He is buried in a wilderness cemetery in the Dongola section of Horry, SC now lost. He is my ancestor via his daughter, Annie Julia Lowrimore Todd 1861-1929.
