He applied for a pension #34735 while living in Paris. Lamar Co. Texas. [ I am entering his record here as this is listed as SC 6 month enlistments] This Reserve unit was made up of what was left of the South Carolina manpower and it was young boys and old men. He served until the unit was disbanded in March of 1865. He was sick in the hospital at Charlotte NC and was there until 13 April when his father came and took him home. He moved to Texas and drew a pension. When he died his second wife Frances West applied for a pension on 27 Oct 1928 and was granted one based on his service. He died 22 Oct 1928 In Paris, Lamar Co. Company K
William David Coleman - Private
William Enlisted at Richmond Va. 9 May 1861. by Capt W.P. Shooter in his company for 6 months. William was born 25 Mar. 1842 in Marion Co. SC. He has four cards in this archival file. Including a letter dated 13 Sept 1950 in reply to and inquiry by Mrs Cacalia Cromwell
about his Confederate Service. The letter signed by Major General Edward Witsell states that William also served as a Sgt in Co L 10th SC Infantry and was wounded at Chickamauga.. It appears that William at a young age went to Richmond and enlisted. When his 6 months expired he returned home and enlisted in the 10th Infantry.
