William T. Jones served in the 21st Infantry as a drummer boy. He joined around 1862, at about age 13. He claimed to have been captured by Union troops, but do not have any details as to the truth of this.

Gerald was born abt 1844 in Henry County Tennessee. He was 15 in 1860. Enlisted 15 March 1864 by Captain Robert E Dudley known as Men from Carroll Co. Tenn. He is captured near Newport, Tenn. on 8 Oct 1864 and sent to Camp Chase, Ohio and was transferred to City Point Va on 25 Feb 1865 for exchange. He died 11 May 1912 in Henry Co. Tenn. and is buried in the Old Union Primitive Baptist Church, Como, Henry Co. Tenn. He married 1st Ann Miller on 21 Feb 1867 and then my cousin Lucy Geneva [ Polia ] Newberry. He was assigned to T.H. Bells Brigade and rode with Maj Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest in the battle of Brice's Crossroads. He also saw action at the battles of Harrisburg aka Tupelo and Athens Miss.
