William Daniel Thomas - Private   
William was born in 1846 in Henry County,Tennessee. At 17 he joined [ according to his obituary ] Co. E Capt. Love's Company 20th Regiment , Buford's Division of Forrest's Cavalry. He fought thruout the war. Near the close of the conflict while a member of Bell's Brigade he was wounded in an engagement at Carmelsville, near Columbia and returned home. This unit was also known as the 22nd [Nixson's] consolidated. Organized in Spring of 1864 and consolidated Mardh 1865 with 14th [Neely's] 15th [ Stewart's] and
21st [ N.W. Carter's]. It was paroled at Gainsville, Alabama, May 1865.
