John Franklin Cashion

The son of Andrew Jackson and Frances (Winstead) Cashion, John was born in Weakley County, Tennessee June 1, 1841. He enlisted in the 31st Tennessee Volunteer Infantry in 1862. After the war he attended medical school and in 1868 he married Virginia Stow. They raised their family in Weakley County where he died December 25, 1886.

Born in 1844 in Carroll County, Tennessee, Milton enlisted from Weakley County, Tennessee in 1862. He died June 27th, 1862. He was the son of Henry and Doshia (Stone) Grimes who lost both of their sons in the War Between the States.

Isaac Pratt, Jr.

Isaac enlisted in the 31st Tennessee Volunteer Regiment at Talbatt's Station in Jefferson County, TN., on March 20, 1862. He returned home sick in June 1862 while his unit was stationed near Cumberland Gap and died in Knoxville on Jan. 15, 1862.

Hiram Y McAliley

Hiram 'Hy' made it until May of 1864 where he died of pneumonia in Atlanta at Fairgound Hospital #2. He was Presbyterian and carried an Enfield Rifle. His father was a tobacco farmer in Gibson Co. Tennessee. 4 brothers fought for the CSA from his family and only one of the four survived the war. Hy is buried in Atlanta with a Confederate headstone. Deo Vindice.

John joined the CSA infantry at age 19 with his older brother, Hy, who was age 25. Another brother, Leroy, stayed at home to fight with the local militia. A younger brother, Green McAliley, joined the Cavalry in 1863 at age 18. Poor John died of disease within 2 months of joining. Hy survived many a battle and died in Atlanta in May of 1864. The date of Green's death is unknown with the 14th Tenn. Cav. Leroy lived a long life as a medical doctor in Gibson County, Tennessee. Deo Vindice.

William enlisted at Trenton, Tenn. on 10 Oct. 1861. He was 22 years old. Appointed 4th Sgt. on 12 Dec. 1861 and 2nd Sgt. on 30 Oct. 1862. He was wounded at the Battle of Perryville in Kentucky. Oct. 1863 he is appointed as Clerk in the Regimental Quartemaster Dept. 16 Dec. 1864 he is captured near Nashville, Tenn. Sent to Louisville and on to Camp Chase. He was paroled at end of the war. His unit which had been consolidated and was now the 3rd Consolidated Regt. Tenn. Infantry was paroled at Greensboro Nc 1 May 1865.

Francis Marion Jones enlisted in the Confederate Army at Trenton, Tn.9-2-1861. He became a Seargent of Co. K, 31 Regt. Tenn. Infantry and was captured 12-16-1864 near Nashville, Tn. by forces under Maj. Gen. Thomas,commanding Dept. of the Cumberland and forwarded to Capt. S.E. Jones Add'l
A.D.C. Louisville, Ky 1-1-1865. Received at Camp Chase, Ohio from Louisville Ky. 1-6-1865. Marion was paroled at Camp Chase, Ohio and transferred to Point Lookout, Md. 2-17-1865 for exchange. On March 4, 1865 he was admitted to Receiving and Wayside Hospital, or General Hospital No. 9, Richmond,
Virginia.

I am also a First Sergeant of Infantry (Retired) in the U.S. Army.
