Ephram Alexander McCollumRank Unknown
Hey, Does anyone have any info of Ephram Alexander McCollum, or E A McCollum? He would be my great, great Grandfather, or my Grandpa's Grandpa. Through ancestry.com I found that he applied for a Civil War Pension through Marshall, TN. He was listed as having served in the 53rd Tennessee. I don't live in TN, I'm mostly in GA. Family legend says that he may have been captured (Fort Donelson?) and he may have spent time in a Union prison camp.

This is what the website told me:

Name: E. A. McCollum
Unit Served: 53rd Infantry
State Served: TN
Application Type: Soldier
Application Numbers: S11611
Application Location: Marshall, TN
Note: The name McCollum, E. A. appears on a Tennesse Confederate Application
Info: A photocopy of this pension application may be obtained from the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Please contact the Tennessee State Library and Archives for pricing and availability at the following address: Tennessee State Library and Archives

Isaac Jasper MassengillRank Unknown
This is part of a letter that I.J. Massengill had written to someone doing research on the family history:

'When the Civil War came up I was just 20 years old. I volunteered in the Confederate Army and in short time the great battle of Shiloh came up. I was wounded in that battle and was out of the service nine months on account of that wound, but got back to the army just in time to be in the Murfreesboro or Stones River fight, and there I was taken prisoner. I was paroled, came home, and later on went ino Forrest's cavalry.'

Alfred Alexander Sawyer - Sergeant
I have old pay vouchers and a copy of a monograph AA placed in the semi-weekly Farmers News back in 1914 trying to reconnect with 'any of the old boys ... who followed Bragg, Johnson or Hood.' He reports being wounded at Rockyface Gap, being hospitalized until Feb.'65, rejoining 'as the army fell back from Nashville, being furloughed for thirty days and paroled at Corinth 5/10/65 .

Old family members told me as a child that he was a kind and gentle man. I guess he had fought his war.
