Abraham Fulkerson - Colonel
Born abt 1823 in Tennessee. His maternal grandmother, Hannah Jobe Jackson was a sister to my 4x maternal gr grandmother, Mary Jobe Cox. He also served as Captain & Major of Co.K 19th Tn.Inf. The regiment was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Courthouse April 9, 1865 as part of Lieutenant General A. P. Hill's Corps, Heth's Division, McComb's Brigade. Colonel Fulkerson, in his history of the regiment in Lindsley's Annnls said there were only 28 men left from the 63rd, under the command of Lieutenant L. L. Etter, of Company 'C'.

William was the son of Barksdale Hightower. He had a brother Leander in the 63rd Company G. Countys that they lived in were; Cocke, Jefferson and Anderson... Two other brothers moved into Kentucky. Annanias moved to Harlan County and Tipton moved to Perry County.

James A. DeLozier was my greatgrandfather. Some of his Company Muster Roll tickets show him enlisting on May 14, 1862, some Aug 1, 1862. He was struck in the head with a minie ball at Petersburg on June 29,1864. The hole was supposedly patched with a silver dollar. He spent a few weeks at Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond and was back on the Company Muster Roll for September-October, 1864. He was paroled with McCombs Brigade at Appomattox April 9, 1865

Earnest Fain - 3rd Sergeant
Earnest Fain joined his Uncle Richard G. Fain's Regiment joining Company C out of Hawkins County, TN. He was one of the 28 to surrendered at Appomattox, VA. Earnest was able to bring home 2 horses, one for his family and one for his Uncle Richard G. Fain. Earnest died 1917 in Rogersville, Hawkins County, TN and is buried in the Presbyterian Church cemetery among his family. He was a member of the local Confederate Veterans Organization.

1836 in Rogersville Tennessee. He was seriously injured on September 20th 1863 at the Battle of Chicamauga. He died on
October 28th 1863 at Academy Hospital Marietta Georgia.He was 27 yrs. old. He is buried in the local Confederate Cemetary.
He had light fair hair and blue eyes.

Mustered at Knoxville,age 18,May 22,1862. March-April 1863 ' sick in Camp ' ( Strawbery Plains,Tenn.)' present ' till Aug.22,1863 ' sent to hospital in Knoxville by order of company surgeon ' ' present ' Jan-Feb 1864 till ' absent AWOL since Oct 20,1864. Returned and paid $ 100.00 bounty ' Nov.-Dec.1864. Name appears on the roll of prisoners of war belonging to the Army of Northern Virginia who have this day ( April 9,1865 ) surrendered by Gen Robert E. Lee C.S.A.commanding said army to Gen.U.S.Grant commanding armies of the U.S. Dated April 11,1865 Hd.Qrs.McComb's Brigade. James was one of only 28 enlisted men remaining of the 63rd that surrendered at Appomattox. One of only 7 of Company D. Later occupation : Brakeman on the railroad in East Tenn. Died 1914 in Knox County,Tenn. James was a nephew of my g,g,grandfather, David Land ( Co.I, 13th N.C. Inf. )

William was son of Conrad and Catherine Wassom Weaver. He was born in 1844 at his parent's home on Weaver Branch Road, Bluff City, TN. William enlisted as a private in CO E, 63rd Regt. Tennessee Inf. William was captured near Knoxville,TN Nov. 3, 1863. He was taken to Rock Island Prison Barracks. He passed away January 19, 1864 of chronic diarrhea. He is buried in plot #227, south of the prison barracks.
William was brother to Jacob J. (CO F 59th TN Mounted Inf.) and James Weaver (CO E 63rd Regt TN INF.)

His brother, my great grandfather, Richard Franklin McPherson enlisted in 1861 in the 19th Tennesee Infantry, Company C , was wounded at Chickamauga and surrended at Greensboro, NC on April 26,1865

Captain F.A. Dyer is my Great Great Grandfather. He fought in the Mexican War and became a Captain in the 63rd Confederate Infantry Company G. He was given a medical discharge in 1863 by the company surgeon and resigned his command due to ill health. He had suffered from lung problems for years.He returned home to Blount County Tennessee, Friendsville TN and died in 1895. He is buried at Shady Grove Cemetary in Friendsville(Miser Station)

William Washington Walters was my Mother's (Clarris Walters Ray) grandfather. He enlisted on July 19, 1862 in Jonesboro, TN and served with the 63rd Tennesee Infantry. (Fain's Regiment 74 Tennessee Infantry). He served in the war until he was captured at Petersburg, VA on April 2, 1865. He arrived at City Point, VA on April 4, 1865. Walters was taken as a POW to Point Lookout, MD and released on June 21, 1865. He arrived in Washington, DC on June 22, 1865 and was provided transportation to Jonesborough TN.
