Private A.J. Cooper was born in Tennessee around 1825. He joined the 154th Tennessee, Company G, November 15, 1863 at Missionary Ridge. He was killed in the fighting between Dalton and Atlanta in 1864.

Always Heard By My Dad Who Heard Him Talk When He Was A small Child He Had Been Shot In Leg And Had swam Across The Miss. River. Have A Photo Of Him In His Uniform And Also A Reunion Photo.Died With A mini Ball Still In His Leg.

Peter E McDaniel

Peter McDaniel (expert marksmen) lost his left leg at the Battle of Chickamauga. The 154th TN Militia Regiment was one of the first with its origin in 1842. For status reasons they were allowed to keep the number and became the 154th Senior TN. Infantry CSA. With 802 men under arms they were hands on in building Fort Wright and reinforcing Fort Randolph by July 1861. In their Battles: Nov. 7th Belmont, Missouri lost 1 and 12 wounded. Apr. 1862 Shiloh lost 25, 163 wounded and 11 missing. Aug. 30 1862 Richmond KY lost numerous men and several commanding officers. December 1862, 245 men fought in the Battle of Murfreesboro losing 14, 83 wounded and 3 missing. By March 1863 they consolidated into 13th/154th TN under Colonel Vaughan the 13th commander. Fighting several battles afterward (Ref. to 13th TN).

Thomas H Hancock

Thomas was born Abt 1826 in Tennessee. In 1860 he was a 34-year-old Auctioneer in Salisbury, Hardeman County, Tenn. He enlists for 12 months 13 May 1861 in 154th Senior Regiment [1st Tenn] enlisted by Col. P Smith. He has 13 items in his archival file. Serval cards state that he resigned his commission 10 Oct 1861 at Columbus, Kentucky however there is some confusion as he is found later in the same regiment. He was captured at Bolivar, Hardeman County Tenn. 11 Aug 1862 and was confined at the military prison at Alton, Illinois for the rest of the war. He died 30 Sept 1870 at Fort Smith, Sebastian, Arkansas. He was the husband of my distant cousin Sarah Usher.
