Born in the western part of Virginia in 1841, Abraham and two of his brothers served in the Army of Northern Virginia. He enlisted in June of 1861 and was surrendered in June of 1865. After the War he and his wife Mary (Fleenor) moved to Illinois. About 1900 Abraham moved his family to Sharp County, Arkansas where he filed a pension in 1904. He died in 1923 in Sharp County.

David Wesley Mink served in Co.B, 48th VA Inf. Regt. from the very beginning until the parole at Appamattox, except for a three month POW experience in Ft. Delaware before his prisoner exchange. His CW pension was granted from the state of Virginia and is recorded. Co.B started the CW with 95 men, and at the Appamattox parole, David Wesley Mink was one of only 4 men present from Co.B. David was my great-uncle, my grandfather Andrew Jordan's older brother.

Moses Colley Mink was captured at battle of Spotsylvannia C.H., sent to Pt. Lookout,MD and several months later transferred to Elmira Prison Camp where he died at the age of 18 on 8-Mar-1865. He is buried in Woodlawn National Cemetary, Gravesite # 2384.He was one of four Mink brothers in Company B, 48th Virginia Infantry Regiment, including: David Wesley Mink, Wiley B Mink, and William James Mink. These men were all my grandfathers Andrew Jordan Mink's older brothers and were my great-uncles.

Wiley B. Mink was captured with his brother Moses Colley Mink at the battle of Spottsylvania Court House. They were both imprisoned at Pt. Lookout, MD.prison; Wiley B. was exchanged at Aikens' Landing near Richmond about 18 Sept 1864. His brother Moses was sent to Elmira Prison on 30 Jul 1864, dying there 7 months later on 8 Mar 1865. Wiley B Mink applied for a CW pension from the state of TN.

Abraham Darnell was a resident of Scott County, Virginia when the Civil War broke out. He enlisted on June 26, 1861. He served as a Private in H Company in the 48th Virginia Infantry Regimen. The 48th was made up of men from the following 5 counties; Scott, Washington, Smyth, Rusell and Lee. He served from June 26, 1861 Until April 9, 1865 When he was mustered out with Distinguished Service. They belonged the Army of Northern Virginia; Second Corps, furst division, Cammanding Officer Jonathan Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackson of both; 2nd brigade, General John M. Jones; 48th Vriginia Infantry Regiment, Col. T. S. Garnett. His unit was part of the Army of North Virginia, Major General Janathan Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackso, (soon to become II Corps. for the grand army of the South), brigade commander, General J.R. Jones, regiment commander, Col. T. S Garnnett. The regiment was mustered into active service on April 21, 1861 for a period of 3 years. The 48th was made up of men from the following 5 counties; Scott, Washington, Smyth, Rusell and Lee. He served from June 26, 1861 Until April 9, 1865 When he was mustered out with Distinguished Service.
