Edward Hilldrup was my great-grandfather. His brother, Pvt. Richard Brown Hilldrup, served throughout the war in the same unit. Edward was wounded at the Seven Days and discharged (also had TB). Oddly enough, another Confederate who was to become another of my great grandfathers, Robert James Lamkin, was wounded at the same time.

Benjamin Warner Pritchett - Private
|
Benjamin W. Pritchett fought in all the engagements of the 55th Virginia excepting for Gettysburg. He was wounded at Chanclellorsville and didn't return until after Gettysburg. He survived the war and was one of few members of the 55th that surrendered at Appomattox. Benjamin returned to his farm which is located on the Spotslyvania Court House Battlefield after the war. He died there in 1918. He is buried somewhere on his farm, but to date we have been unable to locate his grave.
Benjamin Pritchett was not a slave owner and enlisted just prior to the forced conscription in 1862.
He received a Confederate pension from the State of Virginia due to the wounds he suffered at Chancellorsville.
