Jeremiah and his family immgrated into the USA from England in September 1844. They travelled on the ship Rockall from Liverpool into New York. Jeremiah and his second son, also Jeremiah were born in Marston upon Dove in Derbyshire.

He was wounded in the war. Family history has it that when he was wounded, the doctors thought he would not survive, and he was not put with the other 'death watch' soldiers. He survived.
Mustered Out 31 May 1865
Moved to South Dakota after the war.
