John Jesse Blocksidge enlisted on 15th Nov 1862 as a Private in Company D. On 14th Dec 1862 he was transferred to Company I as a Corporal. When he mustered out on 8th Jul 1865 in Kentucky, he was a Full Sergeant. He was born in England on 4th Oct 1840 in Birmingham and emigrated to Racine County, Wisconsin with his parents and siblings around 1845. The Civil War Pension Index shows him as receiving an invalid pension around 1891 in Oregon.
