Anders Rolandson - Private
Born 27 May 1826 in Vestre Slidre, Valdres, Oppland, Norway, the only son of Roland Anderson Jomen and Giertrue Pedersdatter Tørstad-Hande. Anders was born on a tenancy named Rolandsplassen on the Jomen farm. In 1852, Anders emigrated to America as a single man. He changed his name to Andrew, the American version of Anders, and married Annie Lyken. They settled at Valders, Wisconsin, near Manitowoc, Wisconsin. During the Civil War, Andrew served in Co.D. 52nd Regiment of the Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. He and Annie moved to Otter Tail County, Minnesota, ca 1877 and bought 160 acres in Clitherall Township, Battle Lake, Minnesota. Andrew died at Battle Lake on 10 June 1909. Annie and Andrew were both buried at the Trefoldighed Lutheran Church cemetery near Battle Lake, which is marked by gravestones. [Ann Todd Wetsel and D'Arcy Hande]

His newspaper obituary reads:
AND. ROLANDSON
Prominent Citizen of the Town of Clitherall Passes Away at Advanced Age.

Andrew Rolandson one of the earliest settlers of the town of Clitherall died at his home there Thursday at the advance age of 82 years.
Mr. Rolandson was born in Norway and came to America when a young man, settling first in Wisconsin. He came from that state to Minnesota 32 years ago, settling in the town of Clitherall where he has ever since resided. His wife died about fifteen years ago, and his children are Ole Rolandson of Clitherall, Mrs. Thos. Agern, John Rolandson and Mrs. N. E. Nelson of this city, Mrs. Scribner who resides in Canada, Andrew Rolandson of Fosston, Mrs. H. Simonson of Thief River Falls and Mrs. J. Simonson of McIntosh.
Mr. Rolandson was a good citizen and was highly respected in the community where he has made his home for so many years.
The funeral occurred Sunday and was very largely attended by neighbors and friends, who assembled to pay a last token of respect. The service was conducted by Rev. Mr. Norman of Ashby.
