Does that hit home! The last thing a mother, sweetheart, & family want to see in any war, are a soldiers belongings, being brought back in a box!? It had to be a scene, seen many times over, especially in the Civil War!

The speaker is very proud of his state , and enjoyed telling us about the legendary deeds of his North Carolinian forebears.
He told us that when the youthful Colonel Burgwyn lay dead on the field, advancing South Carolinians of Perrin’s brigade attempted to steal the watch from his body, but were chased away by the outraged soldiers from North Carolina !
