At 45 years old much older than most soldiers on both sides at Gettysburg.

That is pretty old for a CW soldier, when you realize the average life span for an individual in 1860 was 42 years old!?

Unless his enlistment records and photo are in error his age is correct. Not unheard of that older men wanted in on the fight.
