Antietam.

Planning a trip to Antietam battlefield this spring. Have only been there twice and both were many years ago. My question is are there any museums besides the visitors center? Never been to Sharpsburg.

Thanks, Larry

Was just down at Antietam a couple of weeks ago...such a pristine landscape- amazing....Ill be honest in that I spent so much time on the battlefield that I didn't much notice if there were any other museums....I don't recall seeing any...

Places like the sunken road, the stone bridge, the corn field, & the Dunker Church.

Antietam certainly has famous historical areas!

I was there several years ago, would go back anytime!?

My favorite battlefield to visit. I don't know of other museums other than the visitors center (which is great.) However, Harpers Ferry, the whole town is a museum.

South Mountain - You can get some great views there, much of the land looks as it did in 1862. Standing along the stone wall at Fox's Gap where Garland fell, and nearby Maj Gen Reno. Very moving!

Have a great trip! I plan to take the exact trip one of these days--follow in the footsteps of the Confederates for the Maryland campaign.
