Thomas Martin Shealy, born July 7, 1837, and died May 1, 1887. On September 29, 1868, in Lee County, Alabama, he married Nancy Caroline Wallace. She was born April 17, 1844, and died June 28, 1932. Nancy was the widow of Richard Augustus Griffen. Thomas served the Confederate States of America. He enlisted at Loachapoka, Alabama, on February 15, 1862, and was mustered out on February 29, 1864. He served in Company H, 1st Alabama Infantry Regiment. They attended church at Shady Grove Christian Church, Opelika, Alabama. The church still stands. In the south wing is a stained glass window dedicated to Nancy Caroline Shealy, Tom’s wife. Thomas and Nancy had four children: Thomas was the brother of John Wesley Sheally, of the 45th Alabama.
