Pvt. Loflin Quinn Gould (1841 - 1926) enlisted in Wilsonville, Shelby, Alabama on 31 MAR 1861. He was mustered into the 29th Alabama Infantry, Company 'E' on its inception in February 1862 in Pensacola, Florida where he remained until Pensacola was evacuated in May 1862. He then moved on with the 29th Alabama Infantry to Camp Lee, Pollard, Alabama and remained there from May 1862 until June 1863. He then moved to Mobile, Alabama where the 29th Alabama remained from July 1863 until April 1864 when it was deployed to Resaca, Georgia to initiate the Atlanta / Dalton Campaign. He fought with the 29th Alabama at the Battles of Resaca, Kennesaw Mountain, New Hope Church, Peach Tree Creek, Ezra Church and the Battle of Atlanta. After the fall of Atlanta on September 1, 1864 the 29th Alabama evacuated north to Franklin, Tennesse where they fought on November 30, 1864 and then moved on to Nashville, Tennessee where they fought that Campaign from December 2 - 16, 1864 at Confederate Redoubt # 4. He went on to fight in Kinston and Bentonville, North Carolina where he laid down his arms with the remainder of the 29th Alabama on 26 May 1865 at Bennett House, Durham Station, North Carolina.
