Enlisted Jan. 15, 1862, at Dalton, GA. Fought at the Battle of Champion Hill, present at Siege of Vicksburg. Paroled on July 9, 1863 after surrender of Vicksburg on July 4. Fought with Broyles' Regiment during the Chattanooga Campaign in 1863, captured sometime after the Battle of Missionary Ridge on Nov. 25, 1864. Released on parole Jan. 4, 1864 after making his mark (X) on an oath of allegiance to the United States at Nashville, TN. Returned home to Whitfield, GA.
