Needam was 17 years old when he joined on 1 April 1864. Enlisting at Troy Alabama in the [ New ] Co E 1st Ala. Infantry. He was shot thru the right ankle at the Battle of Nashville 30 Nov. 1864. He was captured at Franklin on 17 Dec 1864. As a POW he was sent to Louisville Ky, Camp Chase Ohio and on to Lookout Point Md. He was paroled after swallowing the yellow dog on 5 June 1865. He applied and received his CSA pension. He is buried at Baptist Rest Cem. Pike Co Ala. He as married to Mary Frances Byrd which is my mothers line.
