Barney Kemp Riggs (B.K. Riggs in official records) was a brother to Lt.Col. James Monroe Riggs, F&S, of the 27th. He enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant at Richwoods, Arkansas on July 6, 1862 at the age of 32. He died in a Little Rock, Arkansas hospital on February 17, 1863. He was one of my great-great uncles. This confederate veteran is the uncle of the later notorious western gunslinger who carried the same name in his honor.
