Company A
Leonard H. Bullock - Private
My great-great grandfather Leonard H. Bullock enlisted with the 7th Alabama Infantry Company A ‘’Lafayette Guards’’(Chambers County) as documented by the muster roll in Barancus,Florida on September 1, 1861. The Seventh organized at Pensacola, May 18, 1861, with eight infantry and two mounted companies. It was composed of twelve months' men, of companies that rendezvoused at that place. It remained on duty there till November, when it was ordered to Chattanooga, and a month later to Bowling Green. It was in a temporary brigade under Col. S.A.M. Wood, and fell back with the army to Corinth. The time of service of most of the companies expired the first week in April 1862, and it disbanded, though the company from Montgomery and Autauga, and other men of the regiment, fought at Shiloh. The mass of the men went at once into other organizations as Leonard Bullock did when he re-enlisted with the 46th Alabama Infantry, Co. G, May 14, 1862 along with 2nd Lieutenant James M. Handley, Pvt. John F. Smith, and Pvt. Thomas Miller.

Company C
John Richard Seay - Private
John was born Abt 1832 in Georgia. The 1860 census finds him at age 27 in District 3 Cherokee County, Alabama. The Post Office is at Blue Pond. He has 4 cards in his archival file. He enlisted in the aforesaid county on 29 March 1861 and mustered on 7 April. The regiment was first assigned to Pensacola Fla. and stationed at Fort Barrancas. The regiment was engaged at Shiloh and the chaos was such that the survivors refuse to further follow the orders of their commander. All left to join other units with many enlisting in the 3rd Alabama. Family documentation give his death as 22 July 1864 in Atlanta, Fulton Co. Ga. I have not found that documentation. He was the father-in-law of my 2nd cousin 4 x removed.
