Enlisted at the age of 54 along with his son, James. In March 1862 hurt his back - either unloading tents from a wagon or having a tent fall on him depending on the document. Shipped to hospital and missed Shiloh. Discharged shortly thereafter. Please note that he is incorrectly listed as a deserter in the Michigan regimental series. He did not desert! I have a copy of his honorable discharge due to medical reasons.

Great site and great service you're providing.
