He was born in KY, was 5' 8' tall, dark complexion, hazel eyes and dark hair.
He was a farmer.
His disability was due to a wound received in the battle near Honey Springs on July 17, 1863.
His foot was amputated.
Born 27 Sep 1844 in Christian County, Kentucky to John Rasco and Lucy J Taylor. Married Olive Frances Pickens in 1868 in McLennan County, Texas, and had 11 children. Died 26 May 1926 in Thornton, Limestone County, Texas. Applied for and received a Confederate pension in February 1915 in Limestone County. In this application, he states his right leg was broken at the Battle of Honey Springs and the foot had to be amputated; he was honorably discharged at Fort Washita, Arkansas in the spring of 1864. Family story states he had to walk home on crutches from Fort Washita to Limestone County.

He is buried in Mart Cemetery, Mart, McLennan County Texas. He is the husband of my 2nd cousin 4 x removed Permelia Ann Herrod. DEO VINDICE
