My Great Grandfather was with Terry's Rangers under Gen. Terry and was in the West for about 6 months, then transferred to the Gulf Coast and was at 2nd Battle of Galveston, Sabine Pass, Mansfield a Yellow Bayeau.
He is buried in the Confederate Section at Fairmount Cemetery San Angelo, TX.

John was born 22 Nov 1844 in Tenn. He moved to Milligan, Grimes Co. Texas where he enlisted at about age 37 in [1863 according to his wife's pension application] He has two documents in his archival file. 1- CMR showing him in Co B 31st Texas Cav. 2nd is the Oath taken at time of parole at Milligan on 11 Jul 1865. His Regiment skirmished with the federals in Missouri near Newtonia, Fought as dismounted Cavalry at Prairie Grove, Ark. Harassed Union gunboats on the Mississippi River. Defeated federal troops at Stirling's Plantation. Skirmished at Vidalia and Harrisonburg before joining General Taylor in the Red River Campaign in Louisiana. He is buried in Bethel Cem. in Grimes Co. Texas. He was the husband of my 3rd cousin 4 x removed. His 2nd wife Rebecca Ann Lang filed for pension 23 Jan 1931 and it was approved 2 Feb 1931 with activation date of 1 Mar 1831. She died 8 Feb 1928 in Madison Co. Texas

Jonathan was born 1 Oct 1833 in Lawrence County, Mississippi. He has 7 cards in his archival file. The 1860 census finds him at 27 y/o in Hamilton County, Texas, the Post Office is Hampton. He enlists 7 April 1862 in Capt. John R Waller's Company. He musters at Dallas on the 14th, Dallas is 125 miles away. His horse is valued at $140 and equipment at $20. His Regiment operated mainly in Arkansas and Louisiana. The Red River Campaign was the major operation. His Regiment was confronted with disease and command problems. At some point it became dismounted. @@ Feb 1864 he is left behind sick at Harrisonburg, Louisiana. He is the father-in-law of my 3rd cousin 4 x removed. He died 28 Feb 1883 in Navarro Co. Texas. Buried in Old Hill Cem. #2 in Steadman, Freestone County Texas. May God rest his soul.
