Thomas B. Henderson Rank Unknown |
One of his brothers was my father's father's father's father. I have photocopy of a letter he wrote on June 22nd, 1864 when he was in line of battle near Marietta Georgia. It mentions the evacuation of Dalton; the wounding in the back of Jsio [Josiah?] J. F. Means of our company while skirmishing; R.C. Moore was the bearer of the letter taking it back to Fairfield (his family finally received it Aug 26th, 1868 - four years later; Cooper was there on a furlough from the Army of Virginia. He was a Lieutenant in the 31st GA regiment. He was in Gordon's Brig, Early's Div, Ewell's Corps. The letter recounts Gen Lee's Texas Brigade commanded by Gen Gregg telling Gen Lee he could not lead them in a charge.
