Squire Thompson - Private
Squire, son of John and Jane Thompson, and husband of Susannah Hart Thompson, enlisted in Co. D, 22nd VA Cav. after serving in the local 72nd militia. He survived the war, raising his 5 children w. Susannah born before the war (including my ggrandma Julia Ann Thompson, who married her cousin Fullen Thompson), and after Susannah's death, had 4 more children born in the 1870s and 1880s w. his second wife Mary (Cosby, Catherine, Virginia and Charles Thompson). Our family knows nothing of what became of Squire Thompson after 1890, as he moved back and forth between Russell Co. VA and Roane Co. WV. An unusual first name in a family prone to such.
