CARLIS GAUTHIER

Mr. Carles(sic) Gauthier, age 81, died here last Saturday. He was buried Tuesday morning. The funeral took place at St. Luke's church. Mr. Gauthier was a veteran of the civil war. His comrades members of the Jos. Rankin Post G.A.R. accompanied his body to the grave. Mr. Gauthier was one of the early settlers of Two Rivers. He was a man of exemplary habits. A family of grown-up children mourn the loss of a dear father.

AGED VETERAN OF CIVIL WAR DIES SUNDAY
Chilton – (Special)—The funeral service for Constantine Heimann, 94, Born: Germany Aug 27, 1842 Died: Charlestown, WI, USA Nov 22, 1936. Civil war veteran and retired farmer, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Woelfel, at Charlestown Sunday will be held Wednesday at St. Martin's church at Charlestown. The Rev. Francis Heimann, a son of the deceased will be the celebrant at the requiem mass, and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Heimann was born in Radmansdorf, Germany, and came to America in 1853. During the Civil war he served with Company E, 27th Volunteer Wisconsin Infantry, and after the war, on July 23, 1867, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Schnell of Marytown. Mrs. Heimann died on May 2, 1924. Mr. Heimann was a member of the Holy Name society.

My great,great,great uncle Simeon Pond died August 14 in Helena, AK due to disease. He is buried at the National Cemetery in Memphis, TN. His wife Mary was left with their four children and did collect a pension. I would really like to know if there was a particular disease outbreak at that location.

Albert Thomas Grove's birth name was Ingebrigt Torsteinsen.
He was born on the Farm Grov in Hafslo, Norway.
Company H was an all-Norwegian company recruited to the otherwise all-German 27th regiment. Most of the members of Company H were from Dane County, Wisconsin. The company nickname was "The Norwegian Bear Killers".

Frederick joined unit on October 4 1864
Oct. 3 1864 when it was ordered to reinforce Gen.
Clayton at Pine Bluff.
It returned to Little Rock on the 22nd and was detailed for
railroad guard duty in which it was engaged until Feb. 1865,
when it was ordered to New Orleans and assigned to the 3d
brigade, 3rd division, 13th army corps. It took position in
the trenches before Spanish Fort March 27 and remained there
until the evacuation, when it was then sent to McIntosh bluff.
After the surrender of the enemy there it was sent to Mobile
and from there to Brazos Santiago, Tex., on June 1. It was
mustered out at Brownsville, Tex., Aug. 2, 1865.
