11th Alabama Cavalry

James Pickering Lynn was the son of Emsley & Mary 'Polly' Hammett Lynn. He was born,based on census records, in Alabama circa 1846. His gravestone in Porum Oklahoma says he was born Sept. 13, 1840. James enlisted in what was then designated the 10th Alabama Cavalry April 5th. 1863, and served until paroled at Decatur Alabama in May 1865. Over the course of time James lived near Calico Rock Arkansas, then moved back to Moulton, Alabama where he applied for a Confederate Veteran's Pension. By 1910 he had moved back to Izard county Arkansas, and applied for a similar pension there. At some point he moved to Muskogee Okla. and after the state passed their Confederate Pensions Bill in 1915, he applied for and was accepted to the Oklahoma Pension Rolls.. The 10/11th. Alabama Cavalry has been a difficult unit to research but it seem probable that James P. Lynn was involved in many of the battles it fought under Gen. N.B. Forrest and Phillip D. Roddey.

Aaron was 20 years old. Was in 2nd Ala. Infantry until it disbanded with the fall of Fort Pillow. He enlisted there in Capt Hames' unattached Co of Ala Vol's. which is identified as Co A 51st Partisan Rangers. This was attached to the 11th Ala. Cavalry and served under Generals John H Morgan & Nathan Bedford Forrest. Served until end of the conflict.

Great great great great uncle

Radican James Jefferson was a Private in the 11th Alabama Cavalry Regiment, Co. E. and he was 15 years old when he enlisted. He is listed as Radicin, James on the Rolls. James J.. was the son of John M. and Julia Ann Radican SR. of Limestone Co., Ala.

James was born 1 Nov 1846 and died 22 Apr 1933. He is buried in Limestone Church Cemetery in Limestone, Co. Alabama.
