Severely wounded in the mouth on April 6, 1862 at Shiloh.

Enlisted Sept. 3, 1862, wounded at Choctaw Bluffs, Miss. between Dec 17, 1862-Jane 3, 1863. Sent to Spring Hill Hospital, Ala., because of disability, he was trained as a Nurse. Served until parolled June 5, 1865.

Fought at Spanish Fort, surrendered at Citronelle,Al., imprisoned at Meridian, Ms. Paroled 13 May 1865.

James was age 20 when he enlisted from Marengo Co Ala. Enlisted 17 Feb 1863. Mustered in at Mobile, Ala, Saw action at Fort Pillow, Shiloh & Farmington. His unit was posted at Fort Morgan on Mobile Bay. He died there of pneumonia in the Post Hospital on 2 Dec 1863. He is probably buried on those grounds. He was my 6th cousin 3 times removed. Thomas joined the Witherspoon Guards in 1861 and was wounded in the Battle of Shiloh. He was captured at Fort Gaines and was a prisoner of war in New Orleans and Ship Island. He was released in January 1865 in a Prisoner exchange. Later he saw action at Spanish Fort and Fort Blakely and escaped. The Drummer Boy of Shiloh is inscribed on his grave.

Lewis or Louis is my 2nd great granduncle. Lewis also apparently joined the CSS Tennessee. He was captured August 5, 1864 and exchanged March 4, 1865 in New Orleans.

Born: May 2 1844 Marion Alabama.Died: Mar 7 1931 Lafayette Mississippi.{Enlisted; Nov 28 1861 Fort Gaines.} POW.Captured aug 8 1864 at Ft,Rimes Ala Paroled at Demopolis Ala, Jun 19 1865 .

John was from Shiloh, Marengo Co Ala. Only one card is in his archival file. No date of enlistment but he was 27 in 1860. He is on a list of POW's paroled at Meridian MIssissippi on 14 May 1865 which lists him as being in Co H 21st Alabama Infantry and residing in Shiloh, Marengo Co Ala. He was the husband of my 5th cousin 4 x removed.

Captured at Fort Gaines, Mobile Bay, Alabama on August 8, 1864. Exchanged on January 4, 1865.

He enlisted in 1861, served under Col Anderson and Capt's. Taylor and Crenshaw, drew a Confederate pension in George Cty., no cemetery named.

Ruben was born 9 Dec 1831 in Georgia. He has 9 cards in his archival file. On the 1860 census he is living in Itawamba Co. Mississippi which borders Alabama. He enlists in Co I. 21st Alabama Infantry on 24 Feb 1863. His Regiment had been badly mauled at both Shiloh and Farmington and had been assigned Garrison duty at Fort Morgan and Fort Gains on Mobile, Bay. He suffered from Rubeola at Fort Morgan and was hospitalized from 18 Mar to 1 April 1863. He was captured at Fort Gains 8 Aug 1864 and exchanged 4 Jan 1865. He is the father-in-Law of my 2nd cousin 3 x removed. He died 5 May 1909 in Jayton, Kent Co. Texas and is buried in Jayton Cem.

Killed at Shiloh, April 1, 1865.

Died of illness in Mobile, Al due to disease contracted at Shiloh.
