MEEK, A.T. Major - Age 25. Enl 20 Jul 1861 at Memphis, TN. Killed 30 Nov 1864 at Battle of Franklin, TN. Buried near the battlefield in the private confederate cemetery next to Carnton Plantation house.

Giles Taylor enlisted September 1861 in Capt H. H. Beaver''s ''Fagan''s Rifles'' company in Jefferson Co., Ar. He served in Virginia and was present during the engagements of the Fair Oaks and 7 Days Battles. Afterwhich he was transferred in July 1862, to Company ''I'', ''the Tulip Rifle''s'' of the 3rd Arkansas. He served with the 3rd Arkansas Infantry, Hood''s Texas Brigade until his service records end in September 1863. No Further records available.

Private-Enlisted in Co. C, 2nd Arkansas Infantry Battalion, at El Dorado, Union Co., Arkansas, September 23, 1861; transferred to Co. E, 3rd Arkansas Infantry, July 18, 1862; wounded and captured at the Wilderness, Virginia, May 6, 1864; no further record; born c.1837. His widow, Martha Elizabeth Leverett Davis, married my great-grandfather, Andrew J. Harrell.

William was from Franklin Co Ala and 22 Years old. He enlisted two counties west in Lee Co Ark. in [New Co. C ]2nd Regt Ark Inf. at Marinnia, Lee Co. Ark. Believe he was seriously wounded in battle of Liberty Gap 24 - 26 June 1863. He was discharged [wounded]from the hospital on CMR dated 20 June 1863. He died at his home in 1865. He left a wife and small child.

Dates of service unknown. Married Harriet Jane Davies in 1854. Wounded at the Battle of Prairie Grove, Arkansas in December 1862 and 'captured' by his brother-in-law George H. Davies. Amos was held 'prisoner' on the Davies farm near Troy, Kansas until the war's end.

Though the son of an outspoken Union sympathizer, records indicate James served with this CSA regiment rather than a Union one.

Henry enlisted at Pine Bluff, Ark. on 5 May 1862. He was in battle shortly after and a report dated 5 June at Baldwin, Miss states that he lost his arms and accoutrements in action. Henry was sick in camp for a good part of the first year. There are 16 cards in his file and most deal with being present in camp. He is the husband of my 2nd cousin 4x removed.

MEEK, Edward Stewart, Pvt - Enl 18 Jul 1861 at Powhatan, AR. Wounded at Shiloh, TN. Wounded 22 Jul 1864 at Atlanta, GA and died 2 Aug 1864 of wounds. Buried at mass Confederate graveyard in Marietta, Ga. Brother of John Rufus Starr Meek.

MEEK, J.M. Pvt - Enl 8 Jan 1863 at Warren, AR. Died 27 Sep 1863 of wounds received at Chickamauga, GA. Brother of John Rufus Starr Meek.

MEEK, J.R.S. Pvt - Enl 3 May 1862 at Smyrna. Sick in AR since 15 Dec 1862. Dropped 31 Oct 1863. - Pvt. Meek was my great grandfather.

Although Elias Harris Presley was from Leake County, Mississippi, he enlisted in Captain Ross' Company at Johnsville, Arkansas in July 1861. Ross' Company became Co. I of the 2nd Arkansas Infantry Regiment. Elias was wounded at the Battle of Perryville in October 1862, wounded again at the Battle of Chickamauga in September 1863, and for a third time at the Battle of Atlanta in August 1864. He served in the 2nd Arkansas until the end of the war and was paroled at Greensboro, Georgia in May 1865. Elias had two brothers who also served during the Civil War. Andrew Jenkins Presley was a member of Co F, 33rd Mississippi Infantry, and R.C. Presley served in Co I, 39th Mississippi Infantry.
