Andrew was my Great-Great Uncle. He was wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga on Sept 20, 1865 and died from his wounds.

Henry C. Gurnsey is my 3 Greats Uncle. He was killed at the battle of Perryville on October 8, 1862

Enlisted as a Private on 10 October 1861. Enlisted in Company D, 42nd Infantry Regiment Indiana on 10 Oct 1861.

Enlisted in October, 1861. Contracted Typhus while in the army and hospitalized at Evanville, Indiana. Received medical discharge for arthritic hip in January, 1863.

Joshua Jackson Hart was the nephew of Henry Thomas Hart (also a member of Company D). Henry Thomas Hart was the youngest son in the family and Joshua Jackson Hart was the son of the oldest son in the Hart Family, so he was only two years younger than his uncle. Reenlisted as a veteran and was discharged in 1865.

Martin is buried in Kosciusko County, Indiana.

Daniel Jackson Tennison was the brother-in-law of Henry Thomas Hart, also a member of Company D.

On almost all transcribed records my 2nd ggrandfathers name is spelled incorrectly. His name was Burns but transcribed as Barns.

In 1864, John was at the Battle of Peach Tree Georgia, north of Atlanta, when he collapsed on the field. He suffered from flu like symptons and had difficulty breathing. After the war he applied for a pension stating that could only do the work of 'half a hand'. He was granted a pension based on military service and received it until his death. At that time, his widow, Loucinda Davis Spencer made application for the pension and received it until her death.

James P. Wallace is my great grandfather. He served first with co.c 6th In infantry, was wounded and returned to serve with co G, 42nd In infantry and was discharged in 1864 because of wounds he again received.

Captured 9/30/1963 at Chichamauga. Held at Andersonville, Richmond, and Danville. Paroled 12/10/1864

I am the 3rd great grandson of James Carl Roberts, of Gentryville Indiana (1832). Served until Chickamauga. Take to Richmond, Libby, and Andersonville Prison. He paroled out at end of the war. Moved to Lauderdale Co. Alabama in 1887.

Served 1861-1863 from Pike County, Indiana. His father, brother and uncle also served. He returned home to Pike County.

Married to Lucy Fay 14 Feb 1864 while on regt furlough. A son named William Tecumseh Sherman Baum was born 18 Nov 1864. My dad, George W. Baum was born in 1914, thus I'm a G-Grandson.

Edmund M. Knowles (1836-1864), 1st Lieutenant in the 42nd Regiment, Indiana Volunteers, Company K. He was in Libby Prison and was moved to a Prisoner of War Camp in August, Georgia. While there he was (murdered) killed or disposed of by the Guards for complaining constantly about his treatment by the confederates.
