Civil War; Private/Corporal; Union, 82nd Regiment, Indiana Infantry, Company B

Balser Kirsch is my great-great grandfather on my mother's side. My family comes from Jennings County from the Maschino, Megel, and Kirsch lines.

Served as a drummer boy during the Civil War. 1862-1865 I am the great grandson of Munroe and am trying to reconstruct family and military history. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Asher Fenton Taylor was my great-great-great-grandfather. He enlisted in 1862, I believe at the regiment's formation, and has a date of death listed as 8/15/1862 in Albany, Indiana. He died of illness. It is possible he had been a prisoner of war who was exchanged, but I have been unable to verify this.

William Murphy, age 34, was enrolled for service in Nashville, IN on August 15, 1862 as Private and mustered into service Aug 30, 1862 for 3 years by mustering officer Captain Osborn. William was promoted to Corporal July 1, 1864. He was mustered out at Washington D.C. on June 9, 1865. He returned to Indiana and settled near Georgetown. He had 8 children. I am William's great-great-grandson.

Wounded at Chickamauga 20 Sep 1863; Killed at Atlanta, 7 Aug 1864.

I am researching my husband's ancestors. Info found in Grave Index at SUVCW website: b.6 Sep 1834 d. 14 Mar 1864 Enlisted 30 Aug 1862 Discharged 28 Feb 1864 Cemetary name: McCammon, Sandcreek Twp, Jennings Co. Indiana (I believe this is what we call Bear Creek cemetary but will need to confirm this) Info found on Pension app from Footnote.com: Indiana Infantry 82 reg. Co E Rank SGT 03 July 1880 I'm not sure why there is a difference in rank between the two documents.

William H Minette born tennessee 1830, knox county, (minet, minot, etc.) is my wifes great great maternal grandfather... wife Delitha,(delilah) Lawson Minette,born tennessee, 1828 son THomas Minette, daughter sarah(died before 1880)...we have pension records for him from the civil war...we have an obituary from the Parke county (ind) journal aug. 1897. they were living in parke county as of 1880 and 1870...we have census records from ancestry.com..any other info would be helpful.

Uriah first served in 1861 in the 3 month,6th Indiana Regiment as a pvt.,after the 3 months he enlisted into the 82nd Indiana Infantry,Co E,mustered in as a Sgt.,mustering out at the rank of Captain.

Burried - Brown County, Indiana

Enlisted in 1862 at the age of 54. Affectionately known as 'Uncle Andy' as he was a generation older than most of the troops. He was wounded at Chickamauga. Mustered out with the regiment in 1865 as a First Sergeant.

I am not a relative of this person. My wife and I found his tombstone in a semi-abandoned gravesite in the woods. The site is in Dupont, IN. Just wanted him to be remembered.
